Everthought Education CEO advice regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) developments

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Messages from our CEO:

CEO Update March 23 2020

Dear RPL Clientele, Apprenticeship Students, Employer Partners, Trainer & Assessor Networks, Our Everthought Community,

We continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely, taking advice from Australian Government Department of Health, Federal Department of Education, Skills and Employment and relevant State Ministers and Departments (QLD and WA).  The Department of Health’s latest advice can be found here.

Key updates since our communication last week relevant to domestic students, their employers and our staff:

  • Social distancing measures in place meaning no non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100
  • For indoor gatherings, there must be 4 square metres for each person

There have been many other changes, but most others relate to travel which will not affect our domestic students or their employers in a material way in the short-term.

Our response, and implications for Everthought domestic students:

Students Undertaking a Recognition of Prior Learning Assessment and/or Gap Training in any State of Australia

  • There continues to be no expected impact for you.
  • We will advise you if the Coronavirus impacts operations in any way that impacts the delivery of your assessment services or training, at this stage there are none expected.

Students Undertaking Apprenticeships in QLD or WA

  • Students in QLD – there continue to be no expected impacts for you at this point. Given our on-site delivery model, our Trainers and Assessors if they remain virus-free, will continue to be able to work with you and your employer to complete your training as normal.
  • Students in WA – we may need to change your upcoming block training dates temporarily. Our Training Manager, Fergal McHugh in WA, your Trainer or Student Services will contact you soon to discuss alternative options to progress your training.

Note for Domestic Apprentices – the future of Trades training is coming…

  • In an effort to help you maintain your apprenticeship training progression now and into the future, we will be rolling out an online learning management system called Trade Futures.
  • This will allow you to log onto it on your phone, or a table, and complete theory training using videos, quizzes and other engaging techniques.
  • Importantly, we will be maintaining our face-to-face, on-site training and assessment approach + block training where required, as you enjoy it today.
  • More on this soon… but rest assured we are not rolling out a self-paced, online, do-it-yourself apprenticeship model. You’ll retain the connection, quality of service and tailored training plan approach we have today, but you’ll move to using a phone or tablet to complete your theory online with more engaging videos and content, than our current paper-based system.
  • We know you’ll love it. This is industry-leading, trades-specific training that’s been modernised and is more flexible but the quality of training and assessment will be as robust as it’s always been.

FAQs

  1. What do I do if I’m feeling unwell or fear I have come into contact with someone who has COVID-19?

If you are feeling unwell, or have come into contact with someone with COVID-19 the Department of Health has set up a hotline for anyone who suspects they may have been infected with COVID-19. If you believe that you may be infected, please seek urgent medical assistance or call: 1800 675 398.

  1. How will I get familiar with the Trade Futures online platform to learn how to use it?

Domestic apprentices and their employers will be advised in the coming weeks of how your orientation to the system will take place.  Right now, there’s nothing for you to do but continue your progress in your training plan as you currently are.

  1. Who will help me if I have questions about the online platform and how to use it?

Your Trainer will be able to assist you with Trade Futures, and if they need further support there are other staff within the college who can assist.

We will continue to monitor any changes in guidelines issued by the federal and state governments. In the meantime, we are open for business and as always, are here to support you.

We sincerely appreciate your ongoing support and flexibility during this time.

Regards,

  • Reminding all students, staff and guests they must not attend if they have been to a country considered at higher risk of COVID-19 in the past 14 days. Global regions currently identified as higher risk for COVID-19 include Mainland China, Iran, Italy and Korea.
  • If you have left, or transited through mainland China, Iran, Korea or Italy in the last 14 days, we ask that you do not attend an Everthought Education campus for 14 days from the date of travel.
  • If you entered Australia from any location from 15th March 2020 you must following the self-isolation requirements as directed by the Australian Government and we ask that you do not attend an Everthought Education campus for 14 days from the date of travel.
  • If you have been in close contact with a proven case of coronavirus, we ask that you do not attend an Everthought Education campus for 14 days from the date of last contact with the confirmed case.
